 Creating Your Dental Impression: The Most Important Step

We offer upper & lower Impression Kits that you can complete at home and return to us. For the best results, we recommend visiting your dentist to have a putty mould taken. You can post this mould to us, or if your dentist offers a 3D scanned mould, they can simply email it to us. This approach will speed up the process, save on shipping costs, and ensure the highest quality impression.

What's Included in Your Mould Kit:

  • 2 sets of Base and Catalyst Putty
  • 3 Mouth Trays
  • 2 x 3ml Light Body Syringe
  • Order form (please fill out all details)

Important: Remove any piercings and read all instructions before starting to prevent the putty from hardening too quickly.

Step 1: Choose the Tray and Mix the Putty (30 Seconds)

Find the Right Tray: Select the tray that fits your mouth comfortably but doesn’t hit against your teeth.

Mix Quickly: Mix one Base (white) and one Catalyst (coloured) putty for 30 seconds, or until the colour is uniform. Work quickly—if you take too long, the putty will start to harden and become unusable.

    Step 2: Shape and Place the Putty

    Shape the Putty: Roll the putty into a log shape that fits evenly in the tray, avoiding the edges.

    Position Carefully: Place the putty into the tray, making sure it’s evenly spread.

      Step 3: Take the Impression

      Insert the Tray: Use a mirror to help you line up the tray. Put the tray in your mouth, covering your teeth fully with your lips over the mould. Ensure your teeth are centred in the putty and not too close to the edges—this is crucial for an accurate mould. 

      Apply Even Pressure:       Don't bite down. Apply firm and even pressure. For upper impressions, press the tray upwards and for lower impressions, press downwards with your hands. 

        Step 4: Wait and Remove (5 Minutes)

        Hold the Position: Stay still and keep your hands on the tray. Wait 5 minutes without moving or talking to let the putty set properly.

        Gently Remove: Slowly lift the tray away from your teeth vertically. Do not take the putty out of the tray.

        Step 5: Apply the Light Body Syringe

        Unlock the Syringe: Move the tip of the syringe vertically until it unlocks - you should hear it click.

        Fill the Teeth: Fill the teeth with the liquid - make you you apply plenty of the liquid into the teeth you would like your grillz on and then the rest of the teeth. Use one syringe until it is empty. Don't take too long with this step as the liquid will harden.

        Step 6: Re-insert the Tray

        Re-insert: Use a mirror for this step to help you line up the tray - it's important that you re-insert the tray in the exact same place. Push very firmly until you feel the tray slot back into place.

        Set a Timer: Set a timer for 1 minute 30 seconds.

        Step 7: Remove the Tray

        Gently remove the Tray: This time the tray will be harder to remove - don't panic! Gently rock the tray side to side until it releases.

            Step 8: Quality Check

            Send a Photo: Take a clear picture of your impression and send it to us via Instagram @loudmouthldn or email hello@loudmouthldn.co.uk with your order number. Make sure we can see you gum line clearly in the photo.

            Follow Instructions: Use the additional putty only if we ask you to remake the mould. If approved, return the unused putty.

            Reminder: Make sure you have fully filled out the order form with all of the correct details and selected the correct teeth.

            Step 9: Return Your Impression

            Package and Post: Place the tray with your impression and the order form into the plastic bag and post it to:

            Post via tracked delivery so you know when it has arrived with us.

              Important Shipping Note: Do NOT add the total price of your grillz on the customs form. List the value as £0 to avoid extra charges. We are not liable for any customs fees.
